Media type selection in QTR

Media type selection in QTR

2005-09-04 by Jamie Creed

I'm creating some curves from scratch (using UT2 on a 1290s)
for Epson Glossy and Semigloss (at 2880dpi) and was wondering if the
Media/Type selection I make in QTR will make any difference; should I
choose the correct Media Type for the paper I'm using or because I'm
doing it from scratch should I just leave it at default (matte paper)
and be done with it? By the same token I suppose I could just select
Other as the paper type.

Basically what I'm trying to establish in my own mind is; what is QTR
doing when making different paper selections, is it an ink limitation
device?

regards, Jamie Creed.

P.S. actually Semigloss doesn't show up as an option for the 1290

Jamie

I believe the Paper Type selector is a holdover from Gimp print that is not
used in QuadtoneRIP. That is not to say that its use necessarily has no
effect. However, the convention is to leave the media type set to Matte
paper regardless of the actual paper type intended for the Curve.
