One of the features of QTR is that it requires the Epson printer to work at its highest possible resolution - and this in turn requires a steady paper transport to avoid banding - borderless printing forces the printer to print to the edges where the paper transport gets a little iffy, which will usually result in banding - QTR wisely restricts printing to the edges to avoid this - There is also an added benefit - when using thicker fine art papers which can be slightly thicker at the edges just from exposure to humidity - most head strikes are also avoided by printing with a border- which will keep your printer in service much longer - stop whining, enjoy the excellent printing that QTR enables and buy yourself a good metal straight edge, a utility knife and a supply of blades with some of the money you have saved by not having to buy an expensive RIP
