5 years ago I was very happy with my "black only" printing with my old Epson 870, but the problems with "Clogs" meant that I stopped, until 3 months ago when a friend gave away his old Epson 2100. After reading "A 2-Channel Black Only Technique Using Qtr For The Epson R200/220 Printer "Clayton Jones and many of the articles by Paul Roark, I am now very happy with my black and white prints. I used the Spyder 3 print to measure the Lab values. This is my workflow and setting in Qtr. I use Qimage "print to file" to the desired size and sharpening. After that, assign Gray Gamma 2.2 and finally a acv curve. Resultion is set to: 1400 dpi Speed: Uni-directional (bi-dir. gave horizontal lines) Dither algorithm: Adaptive hybrid. (A lot smoothen than "Ordered") Defalult ink. Limit: 60 Black Boost: 90 K.
