Toner partitioning

Hello everyone and please forgive if this is a mundane question, but what is the basis for partitioning the toner settings in QTR? Denisty and Ink Limit?? There are documents on top of documents discussing how to calibrate, partition, and linearize inksets and the contribution of individual inks to the final pint, but I havent found anywhere discussing best practices of using the toners (toner & toner2). I am using the MIS K4+ approiach on a 1400 with LC and LM used as toners to control the overall inkset. I have noticed that setting these inks as toners does not affect the curve (Show Curve) becuase it overlays/blends the ink on top without adjusting the other inks as is the case if I set this inkset to Gray. Also, if I set the LC to "copy curve from", it doesnt affect the other inks as with the "Load Curve". So my basic question is how to best use these "control" inks to control the overall inkset & curve? Thanks much, Phil
