Gloss Optimizer

2011-05-18 by Carl

Hello,
I am using MacBookPro Tiger OS, CS4, Epson R1800 printer with either HP or Epson paper.
I looked at earlier posts but I'm not clear on the solutions suggested.

When I use QuadtoneRIP to print I have no menu to select gloss optimization.

At first I thought it was just printing out of gammut blacks, and or was applying too much black ink over the same area over and over. So I lessened the ink limits to say -40. All this did was lighten my print. I discovered it wasn't just the blacks but the grays were smearing too. I did another test print but using my R1800 printer settings and choosing gloss optimization option. I couldn't smear the print at all but the blacks were the wrong tones.

Is there a program or a fix in the drivers to turn on the gloss optimization feature all the time or at least give you the option? I don't think using different inks will work with my particular printer.

Thanks.

Hi,
I am a newbie with QuadTone RIP and also using an Epson R1800. Did you get any answer about your question on the Gloss optimizer ? I have exactly the same concern and would love to be enable this option to the current BW prints made via RIP.

Thanks & kind regards,
Marc
