R1900 MSI 3MK paper compatibility

R1900 MSI 3MK paper compatibility

2011-05-27 by Kevin W

Hello,

I am thinking of setting up my R1900 with MSI 3MK for color and B&W printing but I have a question about paper compatibility. I know that to print B&W you must use matt paper, but can I still print color on luster or does it have to be matt as well?

Thanks

Kevin

The 3-Mk approach takes the PK and Gloss Optimizer positions. So, glossy
printing is not available. See

Links dealing with papers for the 3MK setup are at

Paul,

Sounds like the 1900 allows pretty much the same setup as the 1800, at least in terms of your 3MK process... is that indeed the case? I ask this in the event my 1800 bits the dust someday. No signs of that soon, just thinking ahead a bit.

Yes, I think it does. I've never tested one, but the 3-MK even ports well
to the 1400 if color is not an issue.

Paul,

OK, that's good news. But if one does want color... you'd have to replace the OEM color carts with pigment color carts, right? Isn't that because the OEM color carts don't get along well with Eboni? And the color would be limited to matt of course. (this information is for a friend who wants both color and b/w - I'm happy just doing black).

mix well.
