I do not seem to be able to download this package, Profile Maker 5. I have tried different browsers etc but nothing works for me. Is there another place to get it, or some trick to filling out the registration? Anybody downloaded it sucessfuly recently?

David

Profiling Question

2012-02-07 by Richard Smallfield

Hi,
I made a greyscale QTR profile with QTR-Create-ICC for use with the
included Entrada Natural curves.

I wondered how consistent the various mixes of the curves are - and
whether I should make my icc profile for the exact curves mix that
will be used (in this case, it's a split tone with neutral
highlights, neutral/warm midtones and warm shadows).

I did notice that the gamma needed to be lightened when comparing
this QTR print with a profiled ABW print of the same photo, which surprised me.

thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard,

I can't tell from you post exactly what you're doing, but in general the
setup you print with needs to be identical with the setup used when the ICC
was made.

The ICC will read the workspace and print accordingly. ABW is not color
managed, so it will not behave that way.

I'm not sure if this is helpful or not.

Thanks Paul, that was what I suspected.

I am printing with K3 inks. With ABW I print via a greyscale profile, too.

thanks,
Richard
