Silly newbie question, please help!!

Silly newbie question, please help!!

2005-08-10 by ryansynth

Hello
I just bought a system consisting of a 191J cabinet, 112, 121, 130 140
and 150 modules and a 184 keyboard. Problem is I have no idea how to
set it up. I have assembled it and powered it up, that was no problem.
I then set up a patch that is in the patch book which came with the
system just to test it out. But when I connected it to my amp there
was no sound at all. I'm obviously (I hope) doing something wrong in
the setup process but I can't figure out what. I connected my amp to
jack sockets 1, 2 and 3 but still no sound. Am I missing some
fundamental point here? Do I connect an output from the VCA to the
main patch bay/jack section? I'm completely new to these systems but
have been dreaming of having one for years, any help or advice would
be greatly appreciated. I guess I'm missing something very obvious
that anyone else would notice immediately but please be kind, it's my
first time with one of these systems!! Could somebody point me in the
direction of a website where I might find some newbie info, I have
already searched extensively. Thanks

Ryan

very basically...
start with a cord from vco1(112) out into vcf1 in
(121) then vcf out into vca 1(130) in then vca out
into jack 1 then convert to 1/4" then out to
speakers...Now take your env1(140) out and plug into
vca mod in, raise slider. take your other env1 out
and plug into the 2nd mod in of your vcf, raise
slider; make sure your env is set to [gate +trig]
mode...this allows the 184 information to be
communicated to the env as the 100m is hard-wired for
certain basic patching...hope this works for
you...this is the first patch I set up when I got
mine...

Step by Step ...
Ask fews questions to yourself...
First, Do I have a sound prolbem ?
- Just connect 1 VCO Output on the input jack
converter on your Patch.
- If there is no sound, try another VCO (i fyou have
one) or try another jack input for level your amp.
- If you get some sounds, it's okay so VCo it's right,
check the VCF (Do you see the green light in the VCF)
and check the VCA.
- You must connect your CV from Key to the voltage
contral of the VCO (downstairs !) and your gate must
be connected to the Env Generator, and this env must
be connected to the voltage control section of the
VCA. Normally this is very basic and must worked.
- Try the VCF, that the low pass filter is not down
