What are the cables on the back of the 100m and where would I find them?

What are the cables on the back of the 100m and where would I find them?

2006-04-16 by roberttraum

I'm thinking of buying a 100m, but one of the backend cables is missing (the cables that
connect the modules in the back) --

Does anyone know where one can find a replacement?

Someone told me MOTM, but Paul at MOTM said he wasn't sure what I
was talking about without further info.

Thanks -- please email me if possible.

I need some five or six years ago, and my tech knew it was available
in some electronic catalog. Shouldn't be too difficult to find.

They are fairly easy, if time consuming, to make yourself.

They are just pin-to-pin DIN cables.

BTW, what I meant to say was that the plug itself was easy to find.
Not the ready-made cable

You can buy DIN plugs at an electronics supplier. Just hook them up
using the guide on this page:

No, and you'd better not try with this or that cable that look alike
--these cables supply the power to the modules, so you could fuck up
your synth. Get someone to solder them for you using the scheme
described in the last post!

Re: What are the cables on the back of the 100m and where would I find them?

2006-04-17 by roberttraum

Yikes.

Does anyone know if there are any one can buy already manufactured that are wired
correctly?

Also -- I was testing the 100M out today, using the existing cables (there are only 2! 3
missing, although he says he probably has them "somewhere") to power up the modules.
Is the 100M pretty safe as far as pulling and plugging these power cables while the 100m
is running? I.e., you can plug/unplug at these cables at will w/o damaging the synth?
(They seem to be notched so that you can't plug them in wrong). Don't want to fuck up
the synth.

On another note -- how reparable is the 100M? I have a former Roland tech in the
neighborhood, so he should be qualified to work on them (he worked at Roland Japan,
early 80's). But are parts available if something goes wrong?

I know that, for instance, the SCI Pro One has a main chip that if it goes bad, well, that's
the synth. No more parts available, ever.

Hey man,

If you can find the ends somewhere, any local electronics repair shop
in your yellow pages should be able to wire them up for you for a
nominal fee...

I'll do it for you after I move (mid-may) if you're not sorted by then.

Cheers,

Damon

2006-05-09 by Bodie

I'm in the same bind. I just bought 10 modules mounted in a 191J
each (2) and there are no din cables :-( I've found a local parts
dealer for 8 pin circular din, but need to find (think I did on
Analoghell) the pin outs for the cables.

Can anyone confirm?

Bodie

Hi all,

These cables are easy, if tedious, to make.

I *could* make a batch but it wouldn't be cheap due to the tedious
fiddly time consuming soldering involved. Probably around 10 UKP each
(TBC though).

The pinout on my site is correct (i have made many before) so it may
be more cost effective for people to just DIY!
