I think the comment was fair. The old 2U MXR Flanger/Doubler is one of the
best I've heard. It's VCable btw and runs considerably cheaper than a WAD as
well. The MXR Digital Delay from the same period is capable of doing most
things the WAD can do, including very nice phasing and flanging.
Making a comparison to a keyboard effect is not really the point.
Of course all this is subjective.
