As Stephen points out, there was a transition point in the late 70s
where the paper graphics and mylar were phased out and the metallic
faceplate material was used. If I remember correctly, that entire
set of modules, including the PCO, NTO, RES, and VCM were started
with paper, but quickly replaced with metal --I include the resonant
equalizer in this group, but it may have been delayed a little from
the others. After 1980, when the business was moved from the lovely
Hollywood third floor shop to the even lovelier Haight Street
office, everything was metal. The FRS and WAD were developed in the
early 80s and were only metal.
