well, at one point serge was the only *new* analogue modular
available, AFAIK. that would the point when moog, polyfusion, etc.
were no longer trading, doepfer was still a dream, and serge was it.
timewise, i'm thinking this would be around mid 80s to mid 90s. ems
has always been around, but not making modulars.

think about it: who was making modular synths in 1990? just serge.
