Re: Sequencer length double.... Chris ?

2004-09-30 by yahoo@hearn.to

I can't find Chris's original post, but I think the proposed solutions are =
way more
complicated than what he probably had in mind...

I'm assuming we're discussing a SEQ8? You are all trying to play all eight =
A settings, then
all eight B settings. But if you just want to double the length, it's much =
easier to alternate
A and B every step. Go by rows, not columns! Then just use a square wave as=
the clock,
and also as the ACPR vc xfade input. That's all you need! (Or am I missing =
something?)

BTW, let me (re-)introduce myself to the list. I'm Bob Hearn. I'm a long-ti=
me Mac
programmer who's returned to grad school (MIT AI Lab - but living in Vancou=
ver, BC - it's
complicated...). I've had a 7-panel Serge for a few years now, but alas spe=
nd far too little
time with it. I've finally got it nicely configured and rack-mounted next t=
o my desk, so it
should be easier to play with going forward. That's the stage I'm at - play=
ing. It will be a
while, if ever, before I reach the point I can make sounds I'd actually wan=
t to record.

Also BTW, a quick question about the DSG. The wizardry page states "When th=
e cycle starts
a gate trigger output goes low. When the cycle is finished, it goes high."=
That's not quite
what I see on my system. It does go high when the cycle is finished, but I =
can't tell what
the condition is that makes it go low - it goes low some way into the cycle=
, but not right
away, and not just when the output starts falling. ??? Also - anyone else n=
otice that the
bipolar output is inverted?

Bob
