Well not completely proprietary. You could build ones
own pretty easily from, say, a PowerOne linear supply.
You would need one that was a dual supply at +-15VDC
(or is it 12? I'm at work right now and can't remember)
and around at least an Amp and a half. The pinouts
(of the panel connectors) can easily be determined.
If you went the route of building your own (i.e. buying
a nice big balls linear supply, getting a nice case,
running lights, switch, connectors, cables, and assorted
hardware) you might save a few pennies over the ones from
Rex, but probably not that much actually (and the time and
energy you need to cut/drill the metal and do the soldering/
hookup might be better spent making cool sounds).
