Is the scratchiness 'noise' when you turn it or is it 'feel'? I have had scratchy feeling pots but never noisy pots.

Some pots see a lot more use than others, such as the main frequency pot
of the vco's or the vcf.
Also, during live performance sometimes you grab a control more roughly
because you're caught up in the excitement,
and that can add wear to the pot too. If the system is over 5 years old
and sees a lot of use you may have to replace
a pot or 2.
