Switched PSU here too for a couple of years, driving a six panel early eighties system.

Ultra stable ! !
This one encapsulated, so if it breaks down it can't be fixed. (just buy a new one)
I have been using it for three years, with no problems.
(the price allows for having a spare ..... just in case)
In the early days of switched PSU's, they were way inferior to linear regarding noise.
Nowadays, it's a different story.
With this Astrodyne, I can not hear (nor "scope-see") any difference.
I agree with Guy;
"Cheap, reliable, powerful, super-stable, cool (literally), modern. And very lightweight."

I am using a 8.5A switched PSU to drive my 16-panel STS/DIY system without any problems... I've added coils across the rails (to suppress any possible lo-freq hum), and use EMI/RFI Ferrites on the power cables going to the system (to suppress any possible hi-freq interference)... Cheap, reliable, powerful, super-stable, cool (literally), modern. And very lightweight.
The STS PSD's have been replaced by a more modern design with better decoupling (etc), though in reality it doesn't make much sense to decouple that far removed from the actual PCB's, and within the context of Serge's serial power distribution.
