I am a Serge owner now!

I am a Serge owner now!

Hi list;

I am proud to say I am a Sege owner now, my animal panel arrived save!

I found the unit very good but the filter ( sorry),non variable out is a lack. I´ll
use my Sem one as I prefer crispy sound.

Could you advanced users tell me an autorhythm pacth while I master the
book and the unit? I could be great to listen to the unit at maximun response.

Thanks!

"Turbotron,"

Congrats on your Animal panel. I, too, started with an Animal and
found hours of enjoyment with this panel alone - though you *will*
want more eventually, I assure you! :-)

Here's a relatively simple Animal rhythm patch to get you going:

Patch:
SSG Smooth Cycle -> SSG Smooth In
SSG Smooth Out -> DTG #1 VC In
DTG #1 Gate Out -> DTG #1 Trog In AND DTG #1 Trig In
DTG #1 Output -> Mixer In 3
Mixer Out -> Variable Q VC-F In
DTG #2 Output -> Variable Q Trig In
Variable Q Band Out -> UAP Input 2

Pot Settings:
Mixer level 3 full on with phase switch to negative (-)
SSG Smooth Rate about 11 o'clock
DTG #1 Rise about 1 o'clock
DTG #1 Fall about 5 o'clock
DTG #1 VC Pot about 10 o'clock
DTG #2 Rise about 5 o'clock
DTG #2 Fall about 11 o'clock
Variable Q in Hi mode
Variable Q Resonance about 2 o'clock
Variable Q Frequency about 10 o'clock
Variable Q VC-F about 2 o'clock
UAP Mode and Gain to suit your monitoring situation

If my patch sheet is accurate, you should now hear a resonant,
creaking rhythm, and you can tweak the pot sttings of the DTG,
Mixer, and Variable Q to further vary the rhythm and timbre.

Note that this patch completely ignores the Animal's oscillators,
wave multipliers, the stepped section of the SSG, AND there's no
modulation of the UAP at all. Try adding several of these elements
yourself to build an even more complex patch!

Best,

Chris Sawyer

Hi Turbotron,

I noticed that you started searching for basic Serge panel only a
month ago. Does it mean that it took only a month to get a brand new
panel from STS, or you got it second hand?

Regards,

Zoran

Be sure to go through as many of the "learning patches" as you can from the Rich Gold Book - its a fantastic resource.
That will get you much more familiar with the operation of the Serge in general and its unique modules in particular. There's a copy available as a pdf at my "Serge Corner" if you don't already have one.
Best Regards, James

Hi Turbotron69,

If you want some interesting patches for the Serge, go to "Weird patches
of the month" on my homepage.

Cheers

Andre
