real cost of TKB

real cost of TKB

2006-06-12 by cray5656

Hi all

Rex is ususally good at replying to me but i have sent him 2 emails in
the last month and he has not replied

so i will ask you guys

1. What is the real cost of the TKB is it $1850 plus $400 for a chasis?
2. Are the touch buttons still made of lead? I am concerned as I have
a child of 2 years who loves his daddys Serge...and I am concerned for
my childs health and mine, but still would like to use the TKB on the
future.

cheers

The TKB key board has a tough clear plastic coating.
I've played mine with my tongue - years ago - with no ill effects -
though it didn't taste very good.

I think your arithmetic on the TKB is correct - I haven't bought one
lately though.

Anybody?

Rex sez earlier TKB's had solder plated metal with a urethane coating.
The new (Hartland) TKB's have
a nickel coating which is nicer.

If you have a really old (pre 1993) TKB and the coating has significant
wear there might be some exposure to the solder.
Otherwise I don't think it's an issue, and it's a complete nonissue with
the newest TKB.

If this is the TKB I think it is, it is a paperface unit, and trust me,
there is no coating, nor, for that matter, does it look like there ever was
any form of coating.
