Re: New M-Class photos up

this might be a silly question due to me not super familiar with serge
stuff (but planning to start once the boats m series is available) but
I noticed on the pictures of the boat that there is actually an
input/output things connect to in that middle 'power' part.

whats that for?

I think the black panel looks really cool!

Ha.. indeed:)

the banana jack under the blue wated-diffused blue LED (inside the STS triangle logo) is used to modulate the LED with CV/Trigg/etc..

Hi,
That's an input for modulating the sunken dome water-diffused blue
LED. The LED serves as a power indicator -- it's never completely
'off' -- but it can also serve to illuminate the front panel in
low-lighting, or when modulated by any input voltage, will cast some
wild shadows on your walls, scare or entrance your pets, etc.

      thanks for all the info,

could we see a photo of the ps2a also?

is the black power distribution module included in the
      price of the m-boat?

      thanks,

I was under the impression that you pay for the modules, the boat and
the power kinda like the way we have with the classic modules

      2008-02-21 by matthew carpenter

      Hi guys,

The power distribution is included in the price of the M-boat. The PS2a is purchased separately.

      Some features of the PS2a:

-Custom made in USA for STS (not a generic Chinese "wall wart")

-Precision dual regulated linear w/ low-noise audio specs (individually serialized & tested)

-Heavy-duty 4-wire cable 6' interconnect cable (dual ground - instrumentation grade)

-Heavy-duty 6' long detachable AC shielded line cord (w/all world line plug types available from stock)

-Externally recessed 110-120/220-240 Vac / 50-60 Hz line selector slide switch

-Externally recessed 5 x 20 mm fuse drawer

-System "common" black banana jack (for easy interface with external equipment)
directly mates to "M-boat with one connector (no external distribution necessary!)

      -Effortlessly powers up to 2 "M-boats ( 4 "M-class modules)

I've put a picture of the PS2a in the Photo section.

      hello Matt,

thanks for the info and photo!

      one more question,sorry:

so, the PS2a does not need a distroboard in order to
be connected to two M-boats then?
from your photo seems that it has the same connector
      as the older ps2,4,6...?
how its connected to two m-boats then?

thanks again in advance for the info!
      best regards, :-)
      Bakis.

Or, to put it really simply, the two [PSD]s are jumpered together by a [PBX] or [PBXL].

The [PBX], connected to the same internal [PSD] as the [PS2a], comes out and connects externally to Boat #2 's power braid connector.
      Hope that helps!

so, the PS2a does not need a distroboard in order to
be connected to two M-boats then?
from your photo seems that it has the same connector
      as the older ps2,4,6...?
how its connected to two m-boats then?

thanks again in advance for the info!

      hello Matt,

      ok, thanks.

so the two M-boats are kind of "chained together" (via
the PBX cable) to get the power from the ps2a.
      best regards, :-)
      Bakis.

      You got it!

      hello Matt,

      ok, thanks.

so the two M-boats are kind of "chained together" (via
the PBX cable) to get the power from the ps2a.
      best regards, :-)

use of this space? System interfacing?

I believe that the [PSD] on the 2nd boat would still be needed to accept (and distribute to the 2x M-odules) the juice coming from the [PBX]

      Matt.. comments?

Yes, that's correct. There's a PSD behind that panel.
