Animal Panel power cables

Animal Panel power cables

2013-04-05 by Antonio

Hello Friends

I've bought a Serge Animal panel
with PS2 (I guess is PS2!) (it's a gray one...)

my Animal has 2 power cables: is it normal ?

and to work correctly both must be connected to the PSD

on the PSD there are an Amber LED and a Green LED

If I try to attach to the same PSD a Soup Kitchen the amber led goes down
and The Animal stop working...

(for the Soup kitchen I have a PS2A (smaller!) )

but I wanted to attach to the same PSUs also my TKB! (currently working on a third PSU (non serge)
is it everything NORMAL with my setup !?

thank you
Antonio

Hello Antonio

2 power cables: this is normal. some panels (espacially those wtih NTO, PCO, FS & QUO) require more power.. hence it has two identical power molex connectors.. the Red Voice has the same thing. Both need to be connected to the PSD to power the panel.

the 2 LEDs: are +12v and -12v indicators

imho, the fact that one light goes off when both Animal and SKitchen are connected indicates that the PS2 does not provide enough juice.. the FS on the SKitchen sucks up A LOT of juice.. so do the NTO/PCO on the Animal... these are amongst the power hungriest panels out there.. i think you'd need a PS4 to drive those two.. TKB may be Ok there too (w. PS4) as it's not very hungry..

.. have you tried connecting the Animal to the PS2A direct and SKitchen and TKB to the PS2 via PSD?

.. in my setup, one of my panels has a Klangzeit (w. FS and WAD) and a dual VCFQ (not so hungry).. and I have a PS2A dedicated to drive just that panel.. matter of fact, my 8 panel system needs to be driven by a PS6, PS4 and PS2A

hope this helps
Yulian

from my experience, when not both leds (+12 and -12 volts) light (as they should!), its an indication that you need more power.

buy a second serge PSU. that's what i did when i had that problem.

thanks,
best regards,

Bakis

ok

seems the TKB can go with them...
is less power hungry than the SoupK

question:
where in Europe can I buy the molex connectors male female, and pins, like the serge ones?

(I'd like to change my CGS panels to the same power input style)

thanks
Ant

Still for sale/vintage panel with pef, hex vca

2013-04-23 by Ancient Eyeball Recipe

Asking $2900 shipped for the pef panel, $1350 for the hex vca.

Prices include shipping to the continental US. Elsewhere, we'd have to work out the additional shipping.
