Hmmm.. I don't doubt this, and I guess I knew it, but again, Andrew and
I 
are looking for the massive magical all-hands-on user interface. That's 
what does it for me (and "us" I assume).

Please don't limit yourself to one FR panel.  If I were the 'design guy'
would make an 8 step sequencer controller 2.5 FR panels wide.  Then you
could cascade two of them side-by-side into a full rack.
Each step with a slider, a knob and 2 on/off switches!  Yee haw!
