Re: [SynthModules] PhrasAlator not talking to comm ports

What version of PhraseAlator are you running? How do you have the Mode
select pins wired/switched? What baud rate are you using to communicate
with the SpeakJet? It defaults to 9600 baud and sometimes... needs to be
reset.

For normal operation (see page 2 of the Operator's Manual), M0 (mode
select - pin 13) should be tied low (GND) and M1 (pin 12) should be tied
high (+5V). To place it into demo mode, place +5 on M0. To reset
(autodetect) the baud rate, put it into demo mode, then momentarily put M1
low. You should hear a sonar ping. Put M1 back to high. Once it has
detected the baud rate, it will automatically go back into demo mode. Then,
simply take it out of demo mode and all should work fine.

I just noticed the schematic online doesn't show M1 (SpeakJet pin 12) tied
to +5 through a resistor (1k should be fine). This pin must be tied high
for normal operation. If left floating... it's probably confused as to what
it's supposed to be doing.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Brice
