You may have a problem with the self-oscillating pedals not putting out enough voltage. A good preamp or booster could overcome this. For instance, the Zvex SHO can output up to 8 volts, I believe. Mounting rails for MOTM are $50, but the power supply will cost you $239. Dotcom rack frame is $65, but you can get a wall-wart power supply for $95.
