Greetings all, I'm new to this group and to the zeroscillator. I'm pretty keen to get one but am wondering about what kind of practicalities there are to housing one or two in a case. I'd definitely want to gig with it. I haven't purchased one yet but it's only a matter of time, surely! What say thee? Richard

How do you plan on using the Zero at gigs? Is it going to be a sound source, a modulation oscillator, is it being driven by Midi>CV? I think your best bet is to: 1) Determine the format that you want to order (that will determine the case considerations). 2) A Zeroscillator really needs a couple of "helper" modules to come alive (VCA, EG, and a second oscillator), so you might want to factor in some space for those. Just some initial thoughts... Ben --- In The_Cyndustries_List@yahoogroups.com, "Richard Chamberlain" <junagu@...> wrote:

Well, really the main thing I'm trying to do is stay mobile!! So I really want a stripped down everything. I realise that the ZO is not really a stand alone unit and needs other things either side of it. I know a bit about synthesis architecture and what have you :¬) The thing is is that I'm mainly a guitarist, though I started making music by programming keyboards back in the day. Now there are some really interesting fx stomp boxes that self oscillate and all that (eg, check out http://www.analoguehaven.com/copilotfx/ or http://www.analoguehaven.com/deathbyaudio/) that I imagine might be fun to patch into the ZO. After all, I'd probably just be satisfied, for starters, being able to get that "x In search of space" era hawkwind thing going. I'm really after the bare minimum. As for the format I like the look of the motm format, but I've not really much idea what the difference is between the 3 choices, though I imagine it's all down to dimensions and how they attach to the rack. Thanks for the reply. Any more thoughts? Richard --- In The_Cyndustries_List@yahoogroups.com, "sydilaxe" <sydilaxe@...> wrote:

You may have a problem with the self-oscillating pedals not putting out enough voltage. A good preamp or booster could overcome this. For instance, the Zvex SHO can output up to 8 volts, I believe. Mounting rails for MOTM are $50, but the power supply will cost you $239. Dotcom rack frame is $65, but you can get a wall-wart power supply for $95. If you REALLY prefer MOTM, there are ways to power them from a Dotcom supply and still save money. --- In The_Cyndustries_List@yahoogroups.com, "Richard Chamberlain" <junagu@...> wrote:
