Good Morning Everyone! Ok, I'm drinking my first cup of coffee and whoa - there a lot of comments in the ol' email here about the recent Zeroscillator price increase... After reading all of your comments, yes, I think actually everyone is correct... It's been about two months since launch, we've sold (52) Zeroscillators in total, (forty of those sold in the first thirty-days). All of us at Cyndustries are delighted at the wonderfully positive response from everyone, we worked really really hard to earn it. Thank You All! Forty out of the grand total of fifty-two ZO orders are either in MOTM or Modcan format, the other format order quantities are Euro (6), Blacet (3), and Dotcom (3). Each format requires unique knobs, pots, connectors, & switches, as well as a panel and two circuit boards specific to that format. In order to get a fair price we must order this myriad of parts for all formats in very large quantities, and there is a sort of financial tipping point where we need a minimum in sales of about (10) of each format to sell in order to break even on that format. We still need a few more sales in Euro, but we have over a dozen of them near ready to ship already. Blacet and Dotcom format customers could really push things along in happening sooner if they'd place their orders now instead of waiting. We're so close already! I've hear people say,"as soon as you start shipping Dotcom format Zeroscillators, I'll get one" (This is to us, a bit like 'the egg after the chicken'... when it is your Dotcom format orders themselves that fuel and propel the project to completion, so please don't hesitate if you are interested in ordering a Euro, Blacet or Dotcom format Zeroscillator, go ahead and order one. Afterall, our decision to continue supplying more groovy designs in each of these formats is based upon Zeroscillator sales. All formats of Zeroscillator use an additional set of four circuit boards which are the main heart and soul of the circuit. These A, B, C, and D boards are in stock a plenty, so ~whatever~ format you order - the central part of the Zeroscillators are built and ready now. Getting to this point has really been exhilarating like running a NASA type Moon launch, however the cost was great and we are still paying our many vendors even during this post Xmas retail slow down. It was thought that raising the price might be the right solution to enable the very large circuit board runs that we still need in order to start shipping the Blacet and Dotcom format Zeroscillators. Perhaps it was unfair to raise the price so suddenly, so many of you were saving-up just to meet ~that~ price and we understand... and that is why effective immediately the price will go back down to the original $650.00 per Zeroscillator until March 1st. Step right up and treat yourself to the most advanced analog oscillator ever built, you ~know~ you deserve it! We'll even honor the original, "buy three and save $150.00" offer until then! Hooray! But the other side of that coin is... Please people, go-on and order a Zeroscillator or two Today instead of sitting on the fence! Great Thanks and Best Wishes! It is a marketing decision, and not an easy one. Price can impact the quantity of sales, with lower prices potentially yielding more sales numbers, depending on the type of product. But given equal production costs, the profit margin is lower. Mass production makes for lower prices, but in the case of modules like the Zeroscillator, the mass production quantities are not very large and the amount that Cynthia can save with quantities is probably related to parts costs, such as panels, which are cheaper in quantities. The assembly cost is going to be a constant. Outfits like Cyndustries, Synth Tech, and Synthesizers.com want to stay in business, and you want them to, too. They have to make money. Their costs are going up. Given the tiny market for this type of product, it's amazing we have these available at what are quite reasonable costs. If $650 vs. $600 per module is a deal breaker for some customers, that will need to be considered by Cyndustries. But it is up to them to set pricing. It is true that an unexpected price increase -- or the expiration of a sale price -- may annoy customers on the verge of a purchase. I think that such complaints are best worked out in private discussions with the company. Cynthia asks for a 50% deposit at the time of order. If you had made a deposit and then in the interim between your order and delivery the price went up, you should end up paying the original price, since that was the understanding at the time of order. If not, then that would indeed be unfair. But I don't think that is the case here. -Richard Brewster http://www.pugix.com hello cunthia, i am quite dissapointed to see this price increase, without any warning at all. usually, a company, when it increaes their prices, first has a warning to their customers. you made this increase with no warning at all. i had already saved all the ZO money from last wednesday (and already a high price...) and me and my friend Ingo Zobel, we were waiting for a third guy, so as for us all to order 3 ZO's for the reduced price of 600 USD for each ZO. and now i see this price increase just before we order the 3 ZO's! we would have placed the order on monday, latest! why no warning at all? if i only knew this price increase, then i would have placed my ZO order from last wednesday, even if i would have to pay the full 650 USD price, for my ZO. really dissapointed with this policy. best regards, bakis.
