Greetings Fellow Hand Wavers
I don't post much, but felt I should send a few words from across the pond -
that's the UK where I live :)

Working full time restricts how much time I'm albe to spend making noiziz
usually to weekends (when there are no other committments), but I enjoy
playing the theremin - it's good fun. I call it my note strangling and have
on the odd occasion been asked if I'm torturing a cat.

I've taken it to several events and it always has people fascinated.

Locally once a month there's an improv evening called "The Noise Upstairs"
where you put your name into a hat and groups of 3 are drawn out to jam
together. The results are of course mixed, but can at times be quite good if
participants give each other space and listen to what others are doing. I've
played along to various instruments such as guitars, a cello, french horn,
sax, even laptops and of course synthis. Some of the regulars can really
generate some nice sound textures and most are professional musicians in
their own right or music teachers, but there's no snobbery and the
atmosphere is always pleasant even if one or two get carried away at times -
fun - They've also run workshops for circuit bending and building your own
instruments as well as organising an improv event bsaed on something called
Cobra by John Zorn. I'd never heard of it.

I wouldn't call myself a musician, but like to experiment with various
pieces of kit.
All the best
Paul
