Re: [SPELLBOUND-L] Theremin ringtones

2006-10-04 by Bret

Ann,
Thanks for making the ringtones. I have been wanting to do that myself
for some time.

I used tonethis (free) to convert and install Rita on my LG vs6100.
http://www.tonethis.com/

Each phone and provider is a bit different, but the software allows you
to enter those specifics. The ringtones can be sent to the phone like
a picture, or a cable can be purchased to download from a computer to
phone.

The file size is limited, varies with phone, should be about 100k or
less (in my case). Most polyphonic phones use mono mp3 files, I think
some fancy newer phones will do stereo. The mp3 file is converted to
mono (maybe bitrate is changed too, the button just says 'convert'),
and renamed from .mp3 to .mid file extension. This software then sent
the ringtone to my phone, and I saved it, and selected it for the type
caller.

Depending on your service contract with the phone service provider,
there may be charges for sending the tones to the phone.

It worked! Now, I get to hear you whenever I get a caller with caller
id. I'll let you know how rita wears with time, and how others react.

Thanks!
bret
