Audition coming up

2006-10-26 by kmg5443

I have an audition coming up.

The music director at our churcy is interested enough to want more
information about my theremin playing. I said if he didn't think I
was ready musically, it wouldn't hurt my feelings to practice for
another year. So, I think I have the right attitude going into this.
He's a good man. Actually, Sheri and I like just about everything
about this new church in this new town.

If he wants to incorporate my feeble skills into a Christmas music
program I intend to use my own amp. Mr. Kissinger was kind enough to
email me with some suggestions.

I need to crack open this Etherwave soon as well. Its having issues
with the pitch antenna, almost like a cold solder joint. The pitch
will go sky high on first turning it on. By rapping the antenna, it
will usually go back to normal range. Problem is, it will revert
back occasionally to the high pitch without warning later on into a
session, necessitating another sharp rap or two to fix it again.
This issue must be repaired soon. I've tried torquing the nuts on
the antennas.

I read somewhere that the Etherwave sound was described as "buzzy",
by one of the fellows who builds these things (he reviewed the
Etherwave on his web site). That seems correct. There is a sweet
spot on the waveform control that I pretty much keep it at, but even
that is not entirely to my liking. Input levels aren't too high ( I
checked this ). I typically shave a little off the high end response
with the KXR100 Fender's equalizer, and add a little bit of flanger
effect, and that tends to smooth out the sound a bit.

I'm looking forward to getting started on the Keppinger, but
finances as of late have not allowed this. I checked into do it
yourself chroming kits, but the hazardous waste issues are daunting.
I didn't realize chrome was so terribly toxic. So, looks like I need
to find a nearby bumper shop.
