GOOD NEWS

2008-02-06 by kmg5443

Melissa, my physical therapist, is now allowing me 15 minutes of
practice on odd days with Gabriella, but only if I don't experience
discomfort or pain. On even days I must do my exercises. Some of you
may recall I had my first solo gig last Christmas at a banquet. I had
a LOT of rehearsal for this, and was also playing in a church praise
band. A year prior to this, I pulled a muscle in my arm lifting
lumber while helping my father in law build a pergola on the back of
me and my bride's house. My arm hurt now and then, but being a dumb
lug of a male, tended to ignore it and soldier on.

Shortly after Christmas, the pain in the elbow got to the point where
I couldn't ignore it and was diagnosed with "tennis elbow". I was
pulled off all activiy by Melissa that involve the use of my left
(volume) arm. The past month and and a half has been a heartbreaker
for me. I miss playing my theremin. Gabby has been mostly silent, and
it breaks it my heart not being able to play at all. I feel blessed
even to play now every other day as I heal.

Melissa assures me this is the correct way to go rather than the
quick and dirty "shot in the arm" with cortisone, which I understand
tends to mask pain before one is healed and cause one to reinjure
onself.

So, I basically was pulled off the active play list about the same
time I say my name on the Honorable Mention List for 2007 in the Neo
Classical Category!!

I love this instrument. And to think a little over 2 years ago I
considered myself "non musical".
