They over-engineered everything. When a 1/4" plywood piece was required for a rack board, they used 3/8". Everything is stout. Built like the proverbial brick outhouse! Indestructable. My first "real" instrument was also a piano, a George Steck console. I still have it. It still plays well however it needs refinishing. The years, six moves, and wear and tear have taken a toll on its appearance.
