The Little Mermaid Suite - Rupert Chappelle, Theremin.

On the 28th I enjoyed a performance of the ballet "The Little Mermaid" by composer Lera Auerbach  and choreographer John Neumeier featuring Carolyn Eyck on theremin presented by the San Francisco Ballet.

The next morning in the cold, rain and clouds I recorded this  original  music on top of Corona Heights above the Castro Street Muni Station for my take on the sad story of the Little Mermaid.

I left off the transformation and ascension as I felt a happy ending was inappropriate. Giving up your family, friends and life to pursue an unrealistic object of desire and destroying oneself in the process and contemplating the destruction of the object of one's desire is hardly a a fairy tale, is it?

Recorded live, in weather, with only the camera microphone using the battery operated Harrison Instruments Model 302 Theremin, Boss Digital Delay and Roland Street Cube battery powered amplifier.
