[SPELLBOUND-L] A Little Lost

[SPELLBOUND-L] A Little Lost

2007-06-07 by carvin knowles

I am a little lost about how the whole Yahoo Groups
thing works. I have been on this mailing list for a
couple of years now, just to keep aware of my fellow
thereministas, though my internet access is limited to
my day-job and primitive email on my phone. Right now
I am writing from my cellphone.

But all the same, I have a small handful of theremin
pieces I would like to share with the class and I was
wondering where I should send them. My theremin works
range from ambient to dub to classical/scorish things
influenced by Herrman.

So if somebody could help me out with submissions, I
would love to share.

peace

Carvin

Hi Carvin,

You might consider creating a Myspace Music account. You can post up
to four of your works there.

Also, join electro-music.com. It is free. You can post your music
there as well as discuss anything pertaining to electronics and music.
Electro-music.com also has a Theremin section -- not as active as
Thereminworld.com, though.

David V is always looking for new theremin music for the Spellbound
program. You can find details at http://spellbound.purplenote.com.

All the best! Look forward to hearing your music.

Carvin,

I'd certainly love to hear your works. Can you send audio files by
e-mail, or does your limited net access preclude that? Or else you
could send me a CD-R and I could make them available in some fashion.

Re: [SPELLBOUND-L] A Little Lost

2007-06-11 by carvin knowles

Thanks Kevin,

Actually, I already have a MySpace account, but I'm
using that to promote my film music (I have music in
over 20 indy films, including American Pie and Cecil
B. Demented and, more recently, Strangers With Candy).
And I use it to promote my album of
Middle-Eastern-Fusion (now available at the Apple
iTunes Music Store).

If you'd like to check my profile, it's:

myspace.com/carvin

BUT.....

My theremin recordings are far less commercial. I've
only managed to play theremin on a couple of film
scores. It's really something I do because I love it.

I've already sent one to David (Thanks David). If he
likes it, maybe you'll all get to hear it soon. I'd
rather just get those out so that theremin enthusiasts
can hear 'em.

And thanks for your response. It's cool to know that I
belong to a community of theremin players and
enthusiasts. We rock.

Peace

Carvin

Yeah, I just have to remember what I did with it! :-)

It must be exciting to have your film music placed. Is it a difficult
process? I've only ever been on the fringes of the music industry, and
the film industry is totally alien. The closest I ever got was an
on-line acquaintence of mine, Midihead, who records epic electropop
under the name Monolithic, had a song used for the trailer for The
Matrix Revolutions.
