I don't know if you're aware of some of the web facitilites available to 
us on Yahoo Groups, but there's a Links area where you can put 
interesting stuff if you like.  Everyone is entitled to add stuff there 
( as well as the adjoining Files area ) at 
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/spellbound-l/ if you are so 
inclined.  The first link is from Philip to one of his Dead Electrical 
Dudes series of essays.  Reading the user discussion afterward was 
nearly as interesting as the article itself.

One of my students the other night came up with an excellent metaphor 
for playing the theremin.  After I described it, he said it sounded like 
"playing air trombone" (he was a trombonist in college).
