Hi Mike,

I recently worked on an S1100 in which the LCD backlight inverter was
making an unusual amount of noise. The inverter circuitry was potted
in a reasonably firm, but not hard, polymer of some kind, inside a
thin plastic injection molded case.

I found that by squeezing it I could quieten and sometimes silence it.

This is all work for an electronic technician, because there are
dangerous voltages inside the machine and because of the risk of
static electricity damage to the circuitry.

If you mention this to your technician - that it may be possible to
squeeze the inverter with cable-ties or whatever, to make it quieter
or silent - then they may be able to solve your problem.
