Hi I recently replaced the LCD in my Roland D50 with a noritake VFD successfully, the only drawback ( apart from it being very bright) is that the contrast control does not work from the pot control, as this pin on the VFD module is a reset pin now, not a contrast control pin. The contrast on these modules is sent via a software control code over the 8 bit interface. The Akai display is a 640 x 240 pixel ( 1/2 VGA size?) graphic and it wouldn't surprise me if there is a similar issue with software control over the brighness etc. If noritake do a simliar sized/pixel display, then maybe just an interface board is needed to buffer the info from the akai processor into a format that the VFD's can use. regards Carl --- In akaiS1000S1100Samplers@yahoogroups.com, "jynjaninja" <xlbrit@...> wrote: > > So, having replaced both the contrast pot and backlight on my S1000KB the display is still dull blue after an initial flash of white when the unit is switched on.
