Double check if there are memory cards inside not being original AKAI.
Pull ´em and test with a AKAI card ( 2MB or 8MB ).
I assume, you will at least have 1 orig. AKAI card in the S-1100,- the one it was shipped with originally and which is a 2MB card.
If it works w/ this card w/o distortion, a sampler fault is sorted out.

Pull the Akai card and insert 3rd party cards one by one to test ´em separately by loading exactly the same samples you loaded w/ the orig. AKAI card.
Wait an hr. and play,- if there´s distortion, the card causes the prob.
It doesn´t mean the card is faulty,- there simply were some 3rd party cards produced being more sensitive on heat than the original cards.

Solutions:
Ditch a 3rd party card causing the issue by heat and replace it by original card.

Mod the case w/ a fan after being sure the issue is caused by heat.
You´ll find that out by testing a card introducing issues in a rackmount config. by testing the same card w/ the sampler outside of a rack.
If the card doesn´t introduce issues w/ the sampler outside of a ack but lid closed, it might be worth keeping the card and looking for better ventilation.

But it can also be, a memoy card is defective or your sampler has another issue.

Hello, PeWe and S1000/S1100 members
Well, maybe it is reason of my troubles with s1100?
I bought it via Ebay, with overseas shipping. Item is just canme, tt is powers up, load disks, but all sounds i can get from it (doesn't matter, from floppys or sampled sounds) sound with digital distortion. How it can be resolved?

Kind Regards,
Boris
