The SCSI card needs to be modded with a 50 header and you will need a 50 pin special cable, you must also have the iOmega SCSI Zip 100 internail drive. (check Ebay)
I will do the mod for anyone that sends their SCSI card in, cost is $25.00 and this includes the cable, all you need is the drive.
Yes you ditch your floppy drive and the int Zip 100 goes in the drive slot and uses the same power that the floppy did.

Hi Rish !
I´m exactly thinking about this and I have the coice using a ZIP drive or a Fujitsu MOD (which is verified to work w/ S-1000 and S-1100 externally).
I never did the modification before, so,- how will the ZIP or MOD be connected via SCSI internally to IB-103 inside a AKAI S-1xxx sampler ?
I assume, if the floppy drive is ditched,- the floppy drive connection cable becomes obsolete and a SCSI 50 ribbon cable will replace the floppy cable.
If that´s the case,- how behaves the sampler´s OS not finding a floppy drive anymore ? No errors to expect ?
Next question and O.T.,- but maybe you know that:
Does it work w/ a EMU E64 sampler too,- replacing the floppy drive w/ a MOD (I own 2 of these Fujitsu).
thx in advance

That standard card does however work with zip drives. I have converted all of my S1000 to internal SCSI zip drives and dumped the floppy. This also allows auto loading of samples when changing songs from a sequencer.
