My first post to the group, and it's not exactly sampler related: Here's another trick. If you don't have any black paper, you can "make" some with a photocopier. Don't place an original on the glass, and don't put the cover down. By making a copy of the "sky", there's little or no light reflected back to the copier's drum, so you get a nearly all-black copy. If the drum or other components aren't perfect, the black copy might be streaky - just touch it up with a black marker.
