welcome to the group.. seems these old beasts are becoming popular again... they're just too robust to be left alone. Not sure on the switch part but I would try to get a hold of the schematics/repair manuals first. I'm sure I've seen these either here (Files) or on someone's website. I can search a bit if you're desparate.
