Another New Guy...

Another New Guy...

2004-11-09 by trevcda

Hi all!
I just got a an S1000HD with an external 44mg SCSI for around
$100US. Of course the first thing you gotta do is open her up (to
clean and chekc stuff out). Of course the backlighting is getting
replaced before re-assembly. Once I'm familar with the OS of
this unit I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions and eventually be
able to offer some suggestions of my own. But I'm getting ahead
of myself. Many of my questions have been adked and
answered previously so I'll try not to be redundant. But I will start
with one I haven't seen yet: the S1000 i bought needs some
spare parts. The previous owner jammed some excessively
long screws in the rack ears and destroyed the plastic part of the
power switch. The actual switch works fine but the part the
shows on the front panel is gone. I've replaced the screws with
the correct ones but I'm not sure where to get the switch. I'm
also looking for the DATA and CURSOR knobs. All of this is
cosmetic, I know, but I would like it to look as stock as possible.
Inside I'll rod out, but that's a topic for another post. Thanks for
your help and great site by the way!

welcome to the group.. seems these old beasts are becoming popular
again... they're just too robust to be left alone.

Not sure on the switch part but I would try to
get a hold of the schematics/repair manuals first.
I'm sure I've seen these either here (Files) or
on someone's website. I can search a bit if you're desparate.

We're having a S1100/S1000 track-off by december, hope you can enter.
