Why do you think that every card has its own slot? As far as I know has the akai sampler an open architecture, just like the ibm pc and apple II. There is a bunch of data, address and control lines, and every option card can use them. In such an architecture, there is not realy a specific place for an option card. This is different from the yamaha and roland samplers which have a specific slot for every option card. If someone else has another experience with this, please let us know. BTW: in case you use 8Mb memory cards, you need 4 slots to accomodate them. Saving effects with samples: akai samplers don't store the effect data in the sample but in a program or in a file which is saved together with the program. So, vfxuser, if you save the program, the effects should be saved automatically. You can that in the akai S1000 manual.
