S1100 manual...

S1100 manual...

2005-03-21 by vfxuser

Hi, eehh, being new around here and a bit of a newbie on the S1100 to.
My question has probably been heard before in this group but I don't
seem to find anything in the Files, Links or in archive so I put it in
here anyway.
I just have the manual for the S1000 and are searching for the manual
of the S1100. I'm not sure how to get the FX part to be saved with my
prog and samples. Does anyone have it as a PDF, TXT, DOC or any thing
data readable or a web link? My S1100 also contains the SCSI, digital
i/o, smpte i/o and I guess those are also described in that manual.
Thankfull for any kind of help.

Greets, Charles.

I was (thankfully) able to buy a true S1100 manual on ebay.
If I have time I can scan it (but I never have time).

I'll look into it though and try to let you know... I'm not there
yet myself with the effects.

BTW which slot is the Digital IO put in (the one beside the SMPTE or
the one nearer to the outputs)?

There must have been some other killer option that Akai never built
for the extra slot.

Re: S1100 manual... / saving effects

Why do you think that every card has its own slot? As far as I know
has the akai sampler an open architecture, just like the ibm pc and
apple II. There is a bunch of data, address and control lines, and
every option card can use them. In such an architecture, there is not
realy a specific place for an option card. This is different from the
yamaha and roland samplers which have a specific slot for every option
card. If someone else has another experience with this, please let us
know.
BTW: in case you use 8Mb memory cards, you need 4 slots to accomodate
them.

Saving effects with samples: akai samplers don't store the effect data
in the sample but in a program or in a file which is saved together
with the program. So, vfxuser, if you save the program, the effects
should be saved automatically. You can that in the akai S1000 manual.

Rgds,
Frank

I dunno. I'm just careful with these beasties is all. It's working
now, but I thought I'd just check to be sure if anyone has done it
before and had experience (for instance I don't own any yamaha and
roland stuff, so I wouldn't have known that about them either).

Thanks for the help though.

Ok, thanks Frank and tbiggz. Well, the "saved within the program"
part I understand now but it's the way of getting there that I'll
need manual for. Also it would be great to be able to know other
things about the FX card and things around it that the S1000 manual
doesn't tell me.
Tbiggz... is it possible that I might have a scanned copy of your
manual? Or the FX part in it?... Please?! :-) (Sounds like a kid
really wanting something real bad!) ;-)

Regards Charles, "vfxuser".

I'll see what I can do.. I've only used a scanner once before.. If
it's easy to do I'll give it a try. Can't promise a deadline though..

Re: S1100 manual

2005-04-08 by formals777

If someone can send me a manual, I will scan, make it available to
this group. I will return the manual afterwards.
The lack of a decent S1100 manual is an old problem that was mentioned
many times in this group, so I'm eager to do an effort to solve that.

Rgds,

Frank
