David, I never had a problem with the mains transformer - but it's clear that the transformer is a bit underpowered. I dont understand why they didnt use a normal switching power supply. Probably because of interference. Problem is that we lack a service manual for the S1100. I'm not so sure if the transformer is the same as the one for the S1000. I think the power supply is a bit different because of the extra outputs etc... One possibility is to find a replacement transformer. The output voltages can be measured but we need to know how much ampere for every output. In case we can have a service manual, we can probably find a replacement transformer - if not - all these transformers can be made by hand. There are companies which can do that for you - but may be pricy. If the transformer has a different size, you will need to create a new shield. An easier way is a. finding another sampler (in germany they go for 80 Euros) or to try a pc power supply (mount it outside the S1100). I'm not sure whether the S1100 only uses +/- 5V 12V. In case it does, a pc power supply is an option. You can easily find for nothing them in recycling centres. Maybe taurecords can help. He's currently inspecting the S1100 architecture.
