nevermind, I figured it out. The digi card only transmits when you tell it to (sound transfers). The xlr digital output i had to splice an xlr cable that I had and solder it to a phono jack. it worked. However the reason why I went through all of this is because the machine's recording and output was seriously degraded, scratchy, and noisy. Long story short, I'm sending it back to the person on ebay that sold it to me.
