digital output on s1100 not tied to main outs?

2006-12-14 by illdrums2000

Hey, I have an s1100. i'm able to digital audio to the machine (to the
machine by way of recording digital light pipe from my emu 1212m sound
card and playing back). I'm also able to play back digital audio by
going to the record 1 menu, hitting "digital" and gaining access to the
digi board.. i can then "send" the sample back to my computer.

My question: are the digital outs wired so that they can continuously
send digital data out? I want to be able to play programs with my midi
controller and port the data digitally into my computer. Is this not
possible? I'm out of analog inputs on my settup (might have to get a
mixer) and want to use the digital output as the standard output for
the machine so that I can get the benefits of using the effects on the
s1100.

any input would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

nevermind, I figured it out. The digi card only transmits when you
tell it to (sound transfers). The xlr digital output i had to splice
an xlr cable that I had and solder it to a phono jack. it worked.
However the reason why I went through all of this is because the
machine's recording and output was seriously degraded, scratchy, and
noisy.

Long story short, I'm sending it back to the person on ebay that sold
it to me.
