You can save the OS to ZIP and boot the new OS from zip but
like you said there will be some cable swapping you'll need
to do when you make the ZIP.

I had a similar issue when my floppy died so I updated the
EPROMS to the latest code level 4.30 and that was that.
This obviously is only a solution if you have an EPROM
burner.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
