Akai s1000 backlight fix DIY

Akai s1000 backlight fix DIY

2010-02-12 by fweakboy

Well I need some advcie wiht my DIY project here
I bought a new backlight and a new inverter as i thought my inverter was shot as well. I am following the youtube vid fome Karel
I am using the same parts as he does .Conrad elektronics .
As it now transpires Iam not sure anymore IF my inverter was broke in the 1st place because the new inverter i bought takes the 5v in from the akai mainboard but as the stock one Nothing comes out ? I meassured everything with my multimeter but the out on the inverter new or old read 0

Anyone ? Any help would be greatly appreciated ..I need some backlight :)

Thanks

Hi!

Do you measure the AC or the DC voltage?
You should measure AC voltage as about 100 to 150V AC with 300 to 400Hz are normally used.

If you measure the DC voltage it could be zero...

Ciao
Peter

No offense, but did you check the switch on the frontpanel? I guess you
already know that the contrastknob can be used for switching the backlight
on and off.

Sometimes it's the small stuff... years ago I spent hours to figure out a
MIDIf**k until I noticed I had connected a MIDIout with a MIDIout :-)

Again, this is just a forget-me-knot :-)

Hi there
I shall answer as its our issue and fweakboy is not here at the moment
Yes we do know the front panel has a noob to increase contrast but
this has nothing to do with the backlight as such.
The problem is very simple and one can take the Sampler out of the loop
because i bought an inverter and a backlight foil
So when i feed 5 v in Nothing comes out the opther side
No also no AC current I measured
I doubt very much the inverter I bought is shot
the same is also for the inverter in the s1000
It takes 5 v in nothing comes out ..
Thats why i thought to buy a new one
Now i think its not the inverter at all ?
