s1100 internal hd

s1100 internal hd

2004-09-12 by manaay

Hi all,

I am trying to install internal HD into my s1100. I bought Conner
CFA540s scsi disk and data cable. Disk starts if I plug in only power
cable but if I plug data cable too then it doesn't power up.. and I am
sure that power cable was made correctly.. I also tried to set
different ids for disk but no success.. disk is terminated.
It looks like AKAI doesn't send power on p125 if disk is plugged to
scsi card (I checked with instrument). Is there anything else that I
should set up. I would understand that disk is not recognized or
something but it is realy strange that it doesn't get electricity..
Anyone had similar ploblems? All sugestions are welcome..

thanks,
Miha

I put HD into my PC and I can access it from S1100. It looks like
specil HD is needed for internal mounting..??

regards.. Miha

Maybe its a HD which consumes a lot of power. In my case, the HD keeps
spinning, but there seems to be a problem with my SCSI interface, at
least the internal side. According to the technician at Mutec, a scsi
card is able to support an internal HD.
Mostly, when a HD stops spinning, there is a problem with the scsi cable.
I always thought that the internal scsi bus is just parallel to the
external one, but this is not true. As far as I can see, only data
signals are the same. The control signals come from different pins on
the controller chip.
Maybe someone else has more experience with that.

Rgds,
Frank
