Sample format converter WAV -> Akai S1100 format

Sample format converter WAV -> Akai S1100 format

2004-10-09 by steven_volckaert

Hi all.

I will get my fully expanded S1100 + goodies shortly, but I had this
one question which troubles me.

What must I do to use a WAV file with my S1100? I know a program,
called Akaidisk (which is free by the way) who can write to Akai
S1100 floppies and thus translate WAVs to Akai format.

But what if the sample is greater than the 1,44 MB a floppy can
store?? Is there a program that works with S1100 and Win XP to load
samples in the S1100 via SCSI?

I also plan to buy Recycle, I wondered if this program is compatible
with an S1100? I know version 2.0 and earlier support external
hardware samplers, such as the S1100, but 2.1 doesn't,
Propellerheads website says...
Anyway this problem should be solved (for me) if I found a way to
load samples in the S1100 via SCSI.

Thanks in advance!

Please look in the links section for a link to wav_akai. It uses midi
instead of scsi.

Hey thanks very much for the info!! I had a look at the files and
links section, but I didn't saw anything usable... I guess I looked
over it.

This program schould only work with Win95 the website says, but it
works perfectly on my WinXP system!

Thanks again.

Steven,

You must be able to see the link to wav_akai in links / tools.
Otherwise there is a problem in the settings of the site.
I noticed that it is not possible anymore to register the wav_akai
program. can you see any restrictions in this shareware program?

Rgds,

Frank

Re: Sample format converter WAV -> Akai S1100 format

2004-10-10 by steven_volckaert

I've downloaded the shareware of wavakai, and it works perfectly on
my WinXP system.

There are some restrictions, however: in the registered version of
the program you can edit your program, such as keyboard range,
original key, plus you can edit loop start and end points (up to
four loops). All this can also be done with the shareware version,
but your editing wil not have any effect to the sample.

Another program I just encountered is Awave (
http://www.fmjsoft.com/ ), which can convert many formats:
http://www.fmjsoft.com/awfmts.html

Awave uses SCSI or MIDI to transfer samples.

It is not free, but fortunatley, you can use the shareware program.

Thanks,

Maybe we must contact the author of the software to get the full version of
wav_akai. I think his address is somewhere on his website.
I've created a new entry in the links section, pointing to the Awave software
you mentioned.

Rgds,

Frank

Keith,

Yes, you can. I use a Fujitsu MO drive which you can find on ebay for nothing.I
have media of 230Mb. These MO drives are not as fast as a HD.

Hi,

Bias Peak 2.53 is excellent, and pretty painless for transferring
samples to and from via SCSI.
