S1100 memory board config.

S1100 memory board config.

2014-07-14 by squaredtee@...

I have nealy completed the S1100 rebuild.

I've added an internal Fujitsu MO drive on scsi id 5 which works perfectly.

I also purchase a couple of 2Mb memory boards on Yahoo auctions. It appears one of them may be faulty but wanted to check here first that I have got things right. I have one 8Mb board and 3 2 Mb boards. After googling I followed this pattern but could only get 6Megawords recognised although I did try some other configurations. This is what I have...

s3 s2 s1 s0 <refers to slot as seen from front ,slot 0 far right>
2Mb 2Mb 8Mb 2Mb

DipSwitch 1&2 on, 3&4 off.

Does anyone else have a configuration they think would work? I should be seeing 7MegaWords but i'm only getting 6MegaWords registered.

Many thanks in advance.

T.

Congrats the Fujitsu MOD works.

Your Dip Switch setting (SW 1 &2 On / 3&4 Off) is correct and its also
correct you have a 2MB board in S0 and the 8MB board in S1.

If you are using one or more 8 Meg boards, the allowable combinations of
mixed 8 and 2 Meg boards are:

Slot 3 Slot 2 Slot 1 Slot 0

                                          2

                                8 2

                     8 8 2

        2 8 8 2

This should work too,- it did here for me:

       8 8 8 2

This doesnt work:

       2 2 8 2

       2 8 2 2

       8 2 2 2

So, 3x 2MB + 1x 8 MB doesnt work.

You run 10MB w/ 1x 2 and 1x 8 or need 2 or 3 8MB cards in addition to
fill all slots.

I myself run 4x 8MB and 2MB + 3x 8 in my two S-1100
I run 4x 2MB in my S-1000

hope that helps
